While the traditional "smile" can make a beautiful portrait, I find that people love to see the more natural expressions that they recognize as a part of that person. Maybe it is an expression only they recognize and know but it is one that they want to cherish and remember. I find it easy to make my clients comfortable so that their personalities show through to the camera and ultimately the photograph. Working with children all my life gives me a special talent to draw them in, make them feel special and in return they give me their true personalities to capture during the time we are together.
Most of my life I have worked with children. I have always been drawn to them and began working in a preschool in my early college years. After completing my degree in Elementary Education I found that I really enjoyed the "little ones" and began a career in preschool. I became a director of a center and then went on to own my own preschool for many years. I loved seeing and interacting with the children each day. For me, they are an inspiration. My husband and I were married 10 years before making the decision to have children and we were then blessed with my son. Watching him grow has been one of the biggest inspirations in my life. During this time I was so afraid to forget any moments with him that I began to document his life with a camera. It was then that I began to fall in love with the art of photography. I would take pictures and then could not wait to get to the computer to see them, edit them and share them with family and friends. Photography became a huge outlet for my creativity. Four years later our daughter arrived and the intensity to capture her every moment is just as strong. Through this experience I have evolved into a photographer who is excited to capture children and families with their natural expressions and through photographs share their relationships with each other.
